President Lee Jae Myung on Friday stopped by a concert of K-pop boy band Stray Kids at GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City.
On his X post with a nine-second clip where Stray Kids perform "God's Menu," Lee wrote that he was at the concert venue and said he could "truly feel the great power of K-pop, spreading the word about Korea as a cultural powerhouse to the world."
He also thanked J. Y. Park, chair of the Popular Culture Committee and founder of the K-pop agency to which Stray Kids belongs.
Before their Mexico City gig, Stray Kids has been on a tour to Latin America, having visited Colombia, Brazil and Argentina for their stage performance.
Lee is currently on a state visit to Mexico and has been in Mexico City since Wednesday.
Prior to his visit to the concert, Lee greeted K-pop fans in Zona Rosa, a Korean food hub in Mexico City. According to Cheong Wa Dae deputy spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryung, Lee greeted fans who stopped by to eat Korean food before going to Stray Kids concert.
Lee also had lunch in a Mexican food restaurant Tacos Atarantados in Mexico City, according to Ahn.
Lee's senior presidential secretray for public relations and communication Seong Ghi-hong said in a note to reporters later Friday that the South Korean presidential couple held a meeting with some 10 K-pop fans just before the Stray Kids concert and gifted them South Korean-made beauty products and Korean food.
